Your Mouth Stinks Baby
How many times have you told your child to go back and brush their teeth again? How many times have you been embarrassed about their mouth odour? How many times have you even wondered why their gums bleed while brushing their teeth?
Oh, you begin hammering them to brush their teeth 100 times a day yet no difference? Why?
Does your child floss their teeth?
What is flossing?
Flossing is the act of removing food debris stuck between 2 teeth with a ‘thread-like’ material. It also helps to massage the gums.
When to start flossing? As soon as they have 2 teeth that touches each other. This is average 2-3yrs
How many times should they floss? Once a day at least; must go between each teeth pair. Even the molars & premolars all the way at the back.
Can my child floss? Parents have to generally help kids floss their teeth properly from age 2-6yrs and supervise them till around age 10yrs. After age 10, kids can generally floss on their own
Benefits:
•Remove food debris that can cause plaque (that white/yellow thing that gets stuck to the teeth for life)
•Eliminate bad breath
•Massage the gums. Prevents gingivitis
Go forth and start flossing for your child. Preferably before you brush their teeth. Best done at bedtime. You know your kids should brush their teeth twice a day right? Now add flossing to that routine.
